Flux Top 10: Musicians invited to my BBQ

I'm opening up the usual metal genre to include much much more! This is just a fun going list of kick ass people whom would be awesome to party with. All for various reasons, but the bottom line is, much fun would be had with these artists. Oh yes.

There are so many amazing people I didn't put on the list, but really, I can only do so much in 10 names, so I give the ones that at this current moment I would love to party with. Who would you party with? Leave a comment or tweet me, let me know!

10. Adam D. - Killswitch Engage - Bassist (Among other things...)

As usual, I ask a friend who she would want to party with, and after a few moments she said, "Adam D.!!" Perfect, why? "Because he's really funny and would be awesome to party with! ... And he's a pervert!" Well, hell, that's good enough for me dammit. Adam D, you are here by invited to my amazing BBQ party of artists. you bring a fruit tray, and no hitting on my woman.

9. Michael Bublé - Singer, Songwriter, Actor, Canadian Asskicker

A good old Canadian boy from British Columbia who loves hockey, music and having a great time. Seriously, every interview I've ever seen with him, he comes across as a down to earth fun guy who I bet would be awesome at beer pong. Michael, you are also invited, you must bring a cheese tray though.

8. Dimebag Darrell - Guitarist for amazing bands. (R.I.P)

Taken from us by an asshole, this man will always be in my list of people I want to party with. Love for good drinks, women and strip clubs. He is the ultimate party man. You know your an amazing person when you have touched so many people in so many different ways. Sir, you will be missed and we will all drink to your name, and watch some strippers.

7. Care Failure - Die Manneqiun - Singer, Guitarist

Bringing back that old school punk feel, Care Failure is a goddess of the scene. Also, another amazing Canadian. BOOYA! She screams like she would be a blast. A great way to bring back those days of old, when I and my friends were reckless, fun and probably doing things that shoulda killed us. Ah, those were the days. Care Failure, here's your invite. Please bring a late night snack, preferably some nachos, or crackers and meat tray. Thank you.

6. Toby Keith - Musician, Actor

Ok, the first one to say, 'but he's country!' gets pimp slapped across the head. Toby Keith isn't country. He's an ass kicker with a guitar that 'HAPPENS' to get played on country stations. Yea, that's my story. In all seriousness, this man is awesome. Any one who sings 'I'll never smoke weed with Willy again' gets an automatic invite from me. You sir, are an icon. Don't ever change. your invite is in the mail, and you are in charge of beer, but it must be Canadian beer. Just sayin'.

5. Hugh Dillon - Headstones - Musician, Actor

Every time I see Hugh Dillon I hear the chant from the Back Alley in Calgary, "HEADSTOOOOONES" If you never saw the Headstones live in Calgary, you should be ashamed. ASHAMED I say. I could just imagine the stories he would have. it would be awesome to just kick back around a fire pit and listen. You, Hugh Dillon are invited and are in charge of entertainment. Make it good.

4. Lights - Musician

"OMG, another Canadian on this list? WTF Chitty..." Oh, I can hear it now, but hey, it;s my list. Don't like it,  leave! Muhahaha. I choose to invite Lights because she kicks ass, looks like she would be one hell of an awesome party goer AND shes a gaming geek. You can't go wrong with that combo in my opinion. Lights, your invite is waiting for pick up. you are in charge of decorations and lighting. (See what I did there? Come on, that's some funny shit.)

3. Henry Rollins - Musician, Spoken Word Artist, Actor

You are damn right I am inviting this man. Every great party has that one guy who can rant on anything and make you listen to every word. This is the man for that job. He commands respect, and looks like he'll pound you if you don't listen to him, even worse, he's extremely intelligent. Invite is waiting, but Mr. Rollins, you don't need to bring anything. You kinda scare me.

2. Serj Tankian - S.O.A.D - Artist, Singer, Writer

That guy who makes the end of the night amazing. Everything starts chillin' out, someone's passed out with felt marker all over their face and a group sits around a camp fire listening to Serj talk about cool shit that only Serj can. Must have for my party. Serj, you are in charge of fire wood and matches. Welcome to the party.

And the number one person who MUST attend my BBQ.

1. 'Weird Al' Yankovic - Awesomeness in a polka rich goodness.

Really, who else could even compare with him? NO ONE, that's who. He is the man. I grew up listening to him, learning all the words to his songs and he helped expand my sense of humor. His movies and music videos are of epic epicness and he cannot be beaten. Hell, he's still going!! A career the length of which any pop star would sell their soul for, he has succeeded. Not to mention he'd be awesome fun at the BBQ. So good sir, for being number one, you do not need to bring anything except your accordion. Maybe sing me a little diddy.

There we have it folks! One awesome BBQ. Now, to figure a way to get them all to come...

As usual, share the page, follow me on twitter, email be questions or comments and come back next week for more amazing blogs!

Friday Top 5: Favorite Cover Songs

All right for todays Top 5, I decided to go and list my all time favorite covers done by some amazing bands. I love these covers. Every now and then, you hear a song that's been covered and it might just be better than the original. Well, in most cases as good as the originals.

Here we go!

5. Trivium - "Master of Puppets" (Metallica Cover)

As if any list involving cover songs wouldn't be complete without a Metallica cover. I mean, come on. It's like a mandatory staple. Extremely well done, and fits in with Triviums sound at the time.

4. Demon Hunter - "Snap Your Finger, Snap your Neck" (Prong Cover)

Now, apparently this is an obscure song for some people. It was a staple back in the partying days. Such a fantastic song. great for headbanging and snapping peoples neck. Demon Hunter did an awesome job sticking to the nature of the original.

3. Spineshank - "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (The Beatles Cover)

Man, Spineshank did such an amazing job with this song. I can't get over it. Such a fantastic way of taking the original, and mixing it with the metal sound. Must have song.

2. Machine Head - "Message in a Bottle" (The Police Cover)

I was blown away when it dawned on me what song this was. Completely took a great classic song and made it into a metal masterpiece. The vocals, guitar work, everything is bang on and perfect to what the song is.

1. Tori Amos - "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (Nirvana Cover)

The most amazing cover of a song ever, and done by an unlikely singer. Tori Amos does this Nirvana classic more then justice, she creates a melody almost romantic song that blows my mind every time I listen to it. I don't even know what else to say besides pure perfection.

Thanks for reading the list, as usual, subscribe, follow me on twitter and stay tuned for more great lists and rants all the time!

Quick Rant #6: Blah days

Man, I tell ya, some days, no amount of killer music and coffee can snap me out of a blah day. No energy, tired as hell and a complete lack to do anything productive. SUCKS.  Usually, an apple, a coffee and some Project 86 keeps me moving and in a good mood but can't seem to get things rolling today and the days half over!

So, what keeps you going? What keeps you from falling asleep at your desk, or your car or just saying 'forget all this.' and hitting the mall instead of working? Let me know. 'Cause damn, I need something right now!!

Flux Top 10: Depressing Tunes Pt. 2

Great reaction to the one last week. Now, I was planning on doing this list later, but I'm pressed for time, and I have all the info ready to go for this one, so this is the list dammit! Prepare to be even more depressed! MUAHAHA I took things back, to a time where I was just a depressed teenager and found some songs that hit home. Enjoy! *It's going to be a quick list. Like I said, I'm pressed for time!!*

10. Taproot - "I" (Gift Album)

Seriously depressing. Like I wanna cry and go into a rage. Ah, those were the days. Heh.
"I need forgiveness from the people I truly care about, I need support behind my back to help me spit it out."
To actually listen, you can feel the emotion of the lyrics. Also, the beat is kinda catchy too

9. Demon Hunter - "One Thousand Apologies" (Triptych Album)

Ok, this one is newer. There's 2 songs on here that were released recently. They fit though. So bare with it.
A song that shows the pain in a man when he's failed someone he loves. Nothing more depressing than that.
"All the pain in your eyes, my regrets have never known such sorrow. All the shame that you hide, resolutions are the same as tomorrow."
Beautifully written song. Vocals are touching. Great tune if you're in the mood to be sad!

8. 36 Crazyfists - "The Tide and It's Takers" (The Tide and It's Takers Album)

This one is kinda half love half sad. Hard to explain, but if you've ever felt that way, you know exactly what I'm talking about. really can't get enough of this song.
"Return to now, as we are opened wide, underneath the haze of lights, and the scents of cigarettes and lies. So say your goodbyes and let it all die tonight."
Man, these lyrics just give me goosebumps. Hits deep. Listen, feel, move on.

7. Linkin Park - "Pushing Me Away" (Hybrid Theory Album)

Now this is going old school here. This song is perfect for those oh woe is me, my girlfriend is a bitch and I gotta leave her. OOOOYEA. Good times, right?
"I've tried like you, to do everything you wanted to, this is the last time, I'll take the blame for the sake of being with you."
Yea, we've all been there. Tying to be something we're not to be with one we want. That really only lasts so long. You gotta be your self man!

6. Hinder - "Better Than Me" (Extreme Behavior Album)

No list is complete without a little old school Hinder thrown in the mix. Oh yea, this is QQ (crying for thouse not in the know.) music to the max.
"I think you can do much better than me, after all the lies that I made you believe. And the guilt kicks in and I start to see, the edge of the bed where your nightgown used to be."
Cha. Of course, after re-reading all the lyrics again after a few years, I think this guy really just missed the sex. There's more talk about sex then love... Hmmmm

5. Marilyn Manson - "Coma Black" (Age of the Groutesque Album)

From the opening note, you know this is gonna be depressing. Holy, depressing. Don't even get me started on 'Coma White".  Damn! Depressing songs be depressing. Ya know?
"This was never my world, you took my angel away, I'd kill myself to make everybody pay."
If this one doesn't get you depressed by listening you need to go see a shrink. Or get drunk first. That night do it. Otherwise, enjoy the morbid depression!

4. Mudvayne - "A World So Cold" (The End of All Things to Come Album)

I remember being stoked for this album. Then I heard this song. I loved it! It was awesome, had a good music flow, the change at the end was a beautiful touch, but still, it's a depressing song none the less.

"Hold the hand of your best friend, look into their eyes, then watch them drift away. Some might say, we've done the wrong things, for way too long, for way too long."

On the flip side, this song does have a powerful ending. Kinda uplifting. Either way, I love this song. Always will.

3. In Flames - "Fear is the Weakness" (Sounds of a Playground Fading Album)

Such an amazing song from an amazing band. Saw this live when they were in Calgary, man, so good. You gotta hear this one.
"At least you could've tried, it is way past time and we're scattering ashes. You take everything inside, please hear me out. You, you are leaving me with scars."
Such an amazing lyricist. Insightful and beautiful. All wrapped up into one song. Love it. Well, depressing really, but still a damn good song.

2. Machine Head - "Five" (The Burning Red Album)

This is a true emotional song. Every word describes pain, and suffering. It relives a troubling time ina  mans life and we are fortunate enough to hear it from him. This exposes what depression based on past is.
"For all the times I've been losing my mind, you molest and destroy just a five year old boy. You made me suffer, motherfucker, ripped my heart out it was so good."
I can;t even really say much about this. It's so real. So emotional. It's something I thankfully never dealt with, but after this song, I feel pain for everyone who has.

1. Radiohead - "Creep" (Pablo honey Album)

The ultimate is a depressed childhood song! Come on! you know it!
"I don't care if it hurts, I want to have control, I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul. I want you to notice when I'm not around. you're so fucking special, I wish I was special."
Now, unfortunately, RockBand kinda ruined the true impact of this song. Like it did to tons of other songs, but hey, it doesn't change the fact that it is still an ultimate depressing song.

Well, hope you enjoyed this Pt.2 I'm sure there will be a part 3 some time, there's still tons of songs to go through! If you have a suggestion for a list, or songs or just wanna leave a comment, put it below, email me, follow me on twitter and come back all week for more blogs and fun times!

Friday Top 5: Hotties in Metal

Without a doubt, my beautiful wife is #1. So case closed. Have a good day.

Oh, you want a list? FINE. SO, todays Friday Top 5 is  quick list of some hotties in metal. Normally I would go for the all female variety, but, hey I'm here to service everyone.
Rules of this top 5? Gonna be a quick list, artists gotta be hot. Gotta be metal. Gotta be current-ish....

Without further ado, I give to you

Hotties in Metal

5. Johnny Santos - Spineshank - Vocals

Seriously, if I didn't put him on this list my beautiful lady would cut off my balls. So this is for her. I think he's aight, I guess, I did totally dig the red in the hair. That was pretty epic. Also, they just dropped 'Anger, Denial, Acceptance' which I enjoyed. He's allowed on the list.

4. Emma Anzai - Sick Puppies - Bassist

Very talented, very beautiful. This woman can rock. Completely in the top 5. Go ahead, argue with me. BRING IT ON! Yup, if you don't own a Sick Puppies album yet, go get it. I promise you will love it.

3. Matt Heafy - Trivium - Vocals/Guitar

Ok, even I have to admit that half Japanese, half Irish look is kinda attractive. More to the point, he seems to have a chill awesome demeanor, and loves food. Hey, I can respect that.

2. Sharon Den Adel - Within Temptation - Vocals

I'd be insane not to include Sharon. Hot damn. 38 years young and can pull off a gothic rock look like no one else ever, and a voice that can tear our your soul. Love it.

And the Number 1 Hottie in Metal!

Wait, you know what, you tell me. Who do you think is the hottest person in Metal?

Quick Rant #4: Waiting

So waiting in the doctors office. Man is it boring. 15 minutes after my appointment and I'm still waiting. Oh well. As my lady puts it, perfect time for a five minute rant. But nothings really coming to mind. Something about being so bored turns off my brain and I can't think of anything.

Being bored sucks. I'm part of a generation that needs constant stimulus! Entertain me Dammit! Give me dancing bears! Seals bouncing balls on their noses! Grandmas chasing midgets dressed as smurfs! Anything!
Sigh. Well at least this killed 5 minutes of wait.

As usual, follow me on twitter check out the latest band profile and wait for more to come! Big things planned!! And before I forget, sign the petition to get NeverWake signed to a label. I really wanna help these guys out.

Band Profile #1: NeverWake

*UPDATE* Check the bottom of the page for more info on the online petition!!**

Hell yes! First band profile for this blog and I thought, what the hell, let's pick one hell of a kick ass band. I featured them in the #1 spot on my Top 5 Bands You Need to Listen to. I first was introduced to NeverWake just after JohnnyD started following me on twitter. As usual when a new band follows me, I check them out see what they sound like. (I have a sick need to hear good new unheard music...) Anyways, the first song I played was 'Pulse' and seriously I stopped working and just listened. That really hasn't happened since 'Toxicity' from SOAD.

So, I investigated further, listened to everything and they were solid in my mind. Music is tight, the recording was perfect, vocals matched the music beautifully and I want more. After that, I sent the band a list of some questions because I knew I wanted them to be the first Band Profile. With the ranting and raving out of the way, ladies and gentlemen, I give you:

Quick View:
Vocals/Guitar - Johnny DiCarlo
Guitar - James Watson
Bass - George Scott
Drums - Marcus Giannamore

Albums - 'Vitality' (2011 Release)
Located - Pittsburgh, PA
Sounds Like - Damn good music. Seriously, what more do you want me to say?
Music Link - ReverbNation

Let's get down to brass tax here. Go for a little bit of understanding and history that I was able to dig up. (OK, really I'm more or less paraphrasing from places and what the band told me. At least I'm honest.)

ReverbNation band bio says the following in regards to NeverWake:
'...They combine memorable, melodic vocals and gothic guitar harmonies over heavy distortion to achieve their style. Their goal is to be signed to a major record label, and they are widely talented and capable of making music of any genre. NeverWake continues to develop their style by incorporating more complex riffs, heavier background vocal style, and dark orchestration while keeping their melodic lyricism. NeverWake released their debut full-length album "VITALITY" in August 2011, produced/engineered/mixed by Mike Ofca at Innovation Studios!'
Yea, that sums it up better then I could. I horrible with writing bios. (You should see my profile bio.. *shudder*) Either way, NeverWake has created a sound that when you hear it, it crafts this epic duality with hard rock and metal that flows so smoothly it's ridiculous. You can hear every band that influences them, but at the same a originality that is welcome in these over-saturated days.

When I asked the band how long they've been together and the story behind the forming of NeverWake, they had this to say,
'JB and I (Johnny) have been making music for 6 years, but the bands been together for about 2 years. When we went into studio we needed a drummer and I knew Marcus from high school so asked him to jump in and record a couple tracks, so he did and it worked out great. About a year went by and we wanted to play out so we got George to put down his guitar and pick up a bass. From there we recorded our debut full length album "Vitality."'

Now for the break down of the interview!
1. Where do you draw your inspiration from when writing new music?
"We have a ton of different influences ranging from hard rock to metal so we decided to fuse them together in hopes of creating sort of a bridge between the two. We don't really study music in terms of what fits together in what key, we write strictly from emotion, that's what I think music is about. There's no rules."
2. What is the best gig you've had (so far)?
"Well we got to open up for times of grace, last winter ( Adam D, and Jessie and Joel from Killswitch) War of Ages, and Straight Line Stitch. Unfortunately we were playing our old material but regardless it was an awesome experience."
3. Plans for upcoming shows, touring or recording new material?
"We are trying to plan a winter tour with a national act at the moment. As far as material goes get ready, we have so much it's ridiculous. We are also planning something massive that's gonna surprise a lot of people."
Sounds exciting, can't wait to hear more regarding that!

4. Johnny, what is the reference to the "Hair so fine in some states it's considered a lethal weapon" on your twitter page?
"Haha I really don't even know, I was just trying to be witty. My hair actually sucks. JB's is better, he's got all the secrets."
5. If you could go on tour with one band, who?
"Trivium. Definitely no exceptions."
Hell yes! Loved the concert I went to a few months back. NeverWake's sound would fit perfectly on tour with Trivium.

6. What is your hidden talent?
"We really put all of our time into music so whatever hidden talent we had is pretty much gone. We are all nerds and play video games a ton. But that's the generation we grew up in so it's not really a talent. But don't even think you can out match us in Call Of Duty Zombies."
7. 140 characters or less: Why should everyone listen to your music?
"We don't sacrifice melody for metal. We try to keep it so everyone can enjoy. Also we're a new band that's been started in the last 2 years and isn't hardcore."
8. Sell your self, plug an upcoming show, say anything you want the world to read!
"Check out the album on iTunes, find us on Facebook (facebook.com/neverwakemusic) and Twitter @neverwakemusic. And stay tuned for new material and tour info!"

BAM!
Just like that we have out band profile. I will be updating as more new info is released. To wrap this all up, this is a band you need to listen to, need to love. They've worked damn hard in two years and have shown that they have the drive, passion and will to succeed in this industry. They want to be signed and dammit, they deserve to be signed.

As per usual, don't forget to subscribe, pass it along, follow on twitter and email me!

Flux Top 10: Despressing Tunes Pt. 1

*Sniff* Here we are again.. Don't mind me, just going to cry as I write this... Damn depressing songs... WAAAAHHH.. ok, I'm composed... nope.. shit, losing it again... screw the intro, just get into the list...

10. Breach of Trust - "Complicated" (Songs for a Dying Nation Album)

A now defunct Canadian band, I met the drummer at a concert once many moons ago and I talked him into giving me a CD, which I love, even tot his day like a decade later. I think you can still buy it on iTunes, worth getting. Very powerful lyrics, this song hits hard. 5:05 minutes of emotional music and lyrics. Be prepared to be saddened.
"To wake up feeling like this, remembering dreams in my head. This doesn't happen often, I woke up feeling like this."
I think we've all had days like this. Nothing seems to make sense. Hate those days, but, hey, identifying with music always makes me feel better. I still need a beer though I think..

9. Crossfade - "Never Coming Home" (Falling Away Album)

Ugh, this song. Just give me the /wrists already. Take every emotional break up you've had, where you have known that it was then end wrap it in some sad depressing piano and a singer who oozes emotion in his voice. Yup, gonna start crying again... BRB.
"I'm planning my release, tonight I'll speak the words I never, thought I'd ever have to say to you. Hope it stings you so deeply."
Remember that moment??? You know you do, don't even. Embrace it!! Live it! Then, move on!! Life is better now.

8. Evanescence - "My Immortal" (Fallen Album)

Yeah, I put this one on the list. I mean, really, how can I not put this on here. It kinda always makes you wanna curl up in the fetal position and bawl like a baby. I still prefer the full band version, I find it has more of an impact with Amy's voice adding to it.
"These wounds won't seem to heal, this pain is just too real, there;s just too much that time cannot erase."
Please, don't pretend you don't know the lyrics here. EVERYBODY knows the damn lyrics, and even if you won't admit it, you love this song too. Excuse me, I need to go listen to something happier before finishing this list. #cryinglikealittlegirl

7. Ill Niño - "If You Were Me" (Dead New World Album)

Finally a upbeat style song! YAY! Wait... what are the lyrics? Oh, really? Hmm... Well.. maybe it means, no.. It's kinda depressing still... Shit...
"You ran away it kill the pain. So far from home, I feel the shame. Now to take the pills, I'm high alone, and I can't believe."
Well, at least this song has a good rage factor attached to it. So as I'm bawling I can beat up something...

6. Stabilo - "Flawed Design" (Happiness & Disaster Album)

This is the ultimate depressing song. Stabilo hides it so well too because the song sounds awesome, kinda almost chill out. I mean, you can totally bop your head to it and not even pay attention to the lyrics. But, if you do pay attention, be prepared for the sniffles....
"'Cause I lie, not because I want to, but I seem to need to all the time. Yeah, I lie and I don't even know it. Maybe this is all apart of my flawed design."
To me, this is a completely different depression. This song is self realization. That moment when you realize who you really are, and what you really have done with your life. The people you have hurt, those you have ruined. Man, that type of self assessment is a bitch. Not gonna lie.

5. Staind - "Me" (Dysfunction Album)

'Welcome to my messed up world!' Aaron Lewis says in this song. What happens when a man pours his soul into a song. Don't even get me started on this analysis....
"Look at me, I'm so pathetic, I can't believe, I'm just an addict. I've never needed anyone to help me, I'm begging you, to please come save me from myself..."
Seems to embody teenage depression to a 'T'. Not.. that I was ever there. NOOOO haha. Still a great song, even if it's not your cup of tea. Let's move on!

4. System of a Down - "Roulette" (Steal This Album! Album)

Back to love! The depression mostly comes from the music, something about an acoustics guitar and Serj's voice that just mix so well together.
"I know, how I feel when I'm around you, I, I don't know, how I feel when I'm around you."
Another place we've all been. Thinking, longing for someone, but not knowing where we stand with them. Not knowing is a killer. Gawd I always hated that. Good thing that's all over with now! :D

3. Shinedown - "Call Me" (The Sound Of Madness Album)

*Sigh* This is my perfect depressed song. I don't know why, just seems to hit me hard. BAM right in the nuts. That shit hurts too if you didn't know.
"I've said it so many times, I would change my ways, no, never mind, God knows I've tried."
Sing this song at the top of your lungs. You will feel better after I promise. Keep this one close and you will do awesome in life. Or, at least, during your sad times. 2 more to go, we can do this!

2. Stone Sour - "Zzyzx Rd." (Come what(ever) May Album)

Ok Corey Taylor has a fantastic way to write emotional depressing shit. There were at least 5 great ones I could pick between Stone Sour and Slipknot. I went with this one for two reasons. 1. I asked my wife which one, she picked it. 2. Because I love the title and the piano work. It all flows so great... uh, well in a depressing way of course.
"I'm over existing in limbo, I'm over the myths and placebos. I don't really mind if I just fade away."
Gah, I hate those depressing tracks that you hit repeat, and listen to over, and over, and over and over and cry and cry and cry.. not.. that I cry of course. Dammit, I'mma man!!!

MOVE ON!

The Number One most depressing tune is:

1. Nine Inch Nails - "Hurt" (Downward Spiral/Greatest Hits Album)

If you didn't see this coming, you are not a lover of music, and I will shun you. SHUN SHUN!! Seriously, Johnny Cash is the man, Trent Reznor is the man, and this song is amazing. Also, extremely depressing...
"I wear this crown of shit, upon my liar's chair. Full of broken thoughts, I cannot repair."
Yuppers. 'Nuff said, as they say. If you don't know this song, you must get it now. Memorize it, live it, feel it. Such an amazing song. This is what emotion in music sounds like.

And there we ahve it folks! Another list done! Don't forget to subscribe, leave a comment, let me know what you think, if you have any ideas for new lists, let me know!

Friday Top 5: Bands you need to listen to

Ok, I'm going to cover this list pretty fast, so you better listen up and pay attention. I'm only going to write this once. Or twice, if I really suck at sentence structure, which, I do. So shut up. These are my fav. 5 bands I've come across lately and I wanted to share with you all!
Read on, pass it along, make sure to subscribe to the feed, leave a comment buy these artists.

*As a disclaimer, no, this is not a paid advertisement blog, I truly like these bands. I am getting no kickback on writing this. Unless, someone wants to give me something. I like free shit. Just sayin'.*

5. Winchester Rebels  (@winchesterrebels)

Coming from Santa Barbara, California, this 5 piece hard rock band delivers a fantastic sound while giving a beautiful homage to the sounds of STP and the like. Unbelievably catchy tunes, recording is beautifully mastered for an unsigned band. Every song is worth listening to, but "Private Angel" Really caught my ear ended up listening to it a few times. Love this sound. I can only see them maturing and becoming better on their second album. Personally, I can't wait to hear more.

Check them out here.

4. Interim Divine (@interimdivine)

Hmmm another Cali band. This one coming from SoCal, this 6 piece has had one hell of an awesome carrier so far. Shared the stage with Korn, Fear Factory, Spineshank, Taproot so many more, played main stage at The Hottest 100 Music Festival, toured with Spineshank and was Named one of the New Faces of Rock by ARTISTdirect. DAAAAAMMMMNNN. Their sound is unique, but at the same time reminds you of so many amazing bands. "Lucid" caught my ear. These guys have a fanatic ear for what sounds good.

Check them out here.

3. Digital Summer (@digitalsummer)

5 piece from Phoenix, Arizona. Damn. Seriously, get this album now. If you don't beleive me, click the link below, go to the songs list and download "Hostage" (For free!) and listen to it all. These guys know how to play music to the fullest. Cannot get enough of these guys. "Whatever it Takes" got some serious airplay and I can tell they know how to work hard. Awesome. Simply, awesome.

Check them out here.

2. Haster (@hasterband)

At first, I was hesitant on these guys. LOVED the music, was fantastic, vocals kinda threw me, but 1/2 way through the first song all doubt left me and I was in musical heaven. This 4 piece embodies the music they create. I feel passion and strength in every song. The band inspirations are present, from Tool, to Chevelle, to me, I even hear a little Fair to Midland in the vocals. Not a lot, but enough that I totally dig it. If you have not heard this, get it now. I can't even nail down one song to check out, because they are all awesome.

Check them out here.

1. NeverWake (@NeverWakeMusic)

I'm not going to lie, when I listened to this band I stopped everything I was doing and just listened. It truly blew my mind how fantastic a band can be without having a huge label backing. The quality of the recording shows the passion for this band. Everything is damn near flawless. "Pulse" is a song you MUST check out. They claim in their bio they they are bridging both Rock and Metal, and they do. Perfectly. This is my type of music to the bone. If you have any sense of good Heavy rock music, you will buy this band. Hell, I'm seriously tempted to go all the way to the States just to check out a show.

Please Check them out here.

In conclusion, these are amazing bands that need more recognition. Pass this along, follow each of them, get the albums. They deserve it, and so do you. I will be doing a follow up to this with other bands, but for now, this is it. Any suggestions? Bands I should look at? Leave a comment below.
