Flux Top 10: Most Romantic Metal Songs

Now first off, I write this to mostly disprove all them people who claim metal is all about raw hatred and killing and grrrr and arrrg stuff. I have complied this list with little thought past pure lyrics. Does it give a sense of love? Romance? *to clarify, this is not about sad, lost love etc. I will always try to not repeat a single band in any one list. I've also tried to stay closer to the mainstream-ish side of this, there are a ton of awesome bands with great lyrics (thank you Jeff!) but, I got limited time here! So, I could ramble on and on about how I chose these songs, or I could just get to the list. So here we go!

10. Adelitas Way - "Closer to You" (Self Titled Album)

"Closer to You" embodies that first love feeling. That, hey, I'm too shy and scared to tell you but heres my one shot at this. 

"Here I stand with my heart in my hands, and all I do, to get closer to you." 

Gives that aww high school love that makes you wanna puke thinking about it now. Not gonna lie, I was a hopeless romantic overly emotional guy in high school. I blame the 90's R&B music...

9. All That Remains - "Undone" (Overcome Album)

I could pretty much quote this entire song as a beautiful love song. Some could argue but I never listen to the haters, or people that disagree with me. I`m really good at covering my ears and saying "LALALALA" 

"I've pushed through the hesitation, I've seen through doubt. I'm better now within her eyes, than I'll ever be without."

It's a great song that even with it's hard style and sound, gives a rhythm and a feel that I love. I would gladly play this at my wedding. Just saying. 

8. Jakalope - "Feel It" (It Dreams Album)

Ok, so technically this is classified as Rock/Pop, but from an album that is not only Canadian, but had Trent Reznor contributing production, song writing and instrumentation, it's counting in my books. Now this is a hell-of-a-sexy song. Katie B, (now goes by Katie Rox, check her out here) does a phenomenal job evoking emotion into these lyrics.

"Is that you doing that to me, with your stare, I feel the temperature start to rise, and I, really take it from there."

When you break it down, it's more leaning towards lust but I get the feeling of love in there dammit. 

7. Dope - "Sex Machine" (American Apathy Album)

I really put this one here to chuckle at me putting it on the list. This song kicks ass and totally embodies 'love'. Providing your 'Love' is all about you dating a girl with blonde hair, fake boobs, and is a nympho, that is.

"Start her motor, take your time, rev her up slowly and pill the line. Are you ready you wanna play? Put your pedal to her metal, she'll blow you away."

I'll grant you, kinda childish, and juvenile, but damn, that's some good music!!!!

6. Dommin - "Remember" (Love is Gone Album)

This song completely encompasses this list and really, is one of the songs that gave me the idea to write this blog.  Why is it at number six then? 'CAUSE ITS MAH LIST! That, and I'm having a really hard time putting these in a descending order. They're all great in my eyes...

"Do you remember, what it feels like to fall in love? Well i remember what it feels like to fall in love, since I saw you."

You can't really get much more of a love song then this. Between the sultry voice of Kristofer Dommin to the emotional piano work, it fits beautifully.

5. Korn - "My Gift to You" (Follow the Leader Album)

This one is for my long time friend Cindy. For as long as I can remember, she swears this one is the top romantic song for her. So, I shall defend her!

"Your throat, I take grasp, then your eyes roll back. Love racing through my veins."

This is actually a very romantic song. It just requires the average person to turn down that awkward part of their brains and really read it. Sure, it has sadomasochism written all over it, but if you read up on Jonathan Davis, you will totally understand what he means, and where he comes from. It's also a pretty damn good song.

4. Demon Hunter - "My Heartstrings Come Undone" (Summer of Darkness Album)

This beautiful song teeters on the boarder of being a lost love, longing type or not.... I kinda lean towards the latter, as I am a hopeless romantic and try to look at the positive sides of things here, so if you dis agree, I refer to what I said in #9. "LALALALA"

"And when my heartstrings come undone, I will wait for you, pray for you. Before I make my final run, I will stay with you, decay with you."

I think it's beautiful anyways. Damn good song. 'Nuff said, as they say.

3. Deftones Ft. James Maynard Keenan - "Passenger" (White Pony Album)

Agree with me on this one or not, every time I listen to this song, I imagine 2 people in love driving down to Arizona Bay with the top down, and love flowin' out of them. Or, two people trippin' out on some mushrooms... Either way, in the right context, the song is romantic dammit!

"Roll the window down, this cool night air is curious. Let the whole world look in, who cares who sees anything?"

Lyrically, sexy. Musically, orgasmic. One of my all time favorite songs. EVAR.

8. Trivium - "This World Can't Tear Us Apart" (The Crusade Album)

Seriously in love with this song. If I could wrap up a song, and make sweet sweet love to it, it would be this one. Amazing sounding, great riffs, fantastic vocals and damn good lyrics. If you don't have this one, get it now, or forever live with the knowledge that you could have owned something epic, but you failed at life instead. You hear me? FAILED AT LIFE. That is all.

All the pain in this world won't stop us now, for we have each other. All the hate in this world can't Tear us apart. This love is forever.

GAWD DAMN! It takes everything a man could feel and puts it in a hardcore epic stance and slams it in your face. If this doesn't say I love you woman then you're insane.

And lastly, the number 1 most romantic metal song.

1. Roadrunner United - "Army of the Sun" (The All Star Sessions Album)

Without a doubt, the greatest song on the list. Covers everything a metalhead, and romantic could ever need or want in a song. Hard lyrics, good screams, great riffs and a feeling like, 'Woah. I was touched by something amazing and can't explain it.' The number one song in my mind, and will not change. This is a song I will definitely, gladly, play at my wedding. 'Cause I'm all sappy like that. It's hard for me to pick out just a few lyrics to show the love, so I'll settle for the chorus here;

Everlasting setting sun. You're my angel, you're the only one. No one close and nothing compares in the end.  You're my angel, you're my only one.
